Easy Oven Baked Tacos

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • - 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • - 1 packet taco seasoning or spices: cumin, paprika, chili powder
  • - 2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey jack, or Mexican cheese
  • - 12 crispy taco shells
  • - 1 medium onion diced
  • - 2 cloves garlic minced
  • - Optional: tomato sauce green chilies, refried beans

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (190°C). While the oven is heating, prepare the ground beef filling. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the diced onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook the beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning (or your choice of spices) and a splash of water if needed. Mix well and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Assemble your tacos by filling each crispy taco shell with the beef mixture. Top generously with shredded cheese, making sure each taco is well-filled. Crispy taco shells are a highlight of this recipe that ensures they don't fall apart.
  • Place the assembled tacos on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on them to avoid over-browning.
  • Once baked, remove the tacos from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
  • For the best results, consider warming your tortilla shells before filling them to prevent tearing.
  • Additionally, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container and reheat in the oven to maintain their crispness. You can also freeze assembled tacos before baking for a quick meal option later on.
  • Enjoy your cooking and feel free to experiment with different fillings and toppings to make this dish your own!
