Easy Meal Planning on a Budget

  • - 1 pound ground sausage
  • - 8 ounces pasta like penne or rotini
  • - 2 cups chicken broth
  • - 1 cup milk
  • - 1 cup frozen peas or other vegetables
  • - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • - Salt and pepper to taste
  • - Grated Parmesan cheese optional, for serving

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • In a large pot or skillet over medium heat, add the ground sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Drain any excess fat from the sausage, if necessary. Stir in the pasta, chicken broth, milk, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover the pot and let it cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  • Add the frozen peas (or any other vegetables you desire) to the pot and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the peas are heated through.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes to thicken. Serve warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
