Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • - 1 pound ground chicken
  • - 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • - 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • - 1 onion chopped
  • - 2 cloves garlic minced
  • - 1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced
  • - 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • - 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • - 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • - 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
  • - Butter lettuce leaves
  • - Chopped cilantro for garnish
  • - Sesame seeds for garnish
  • - Chopped cashews optional
  • - Shredded carrots optional
  • - Sliced scallions optional

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil and olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until it's browned and no longer pink.
  • Add the chopped onion to the pan and cook until it becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, low-sodium soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and chili garlic sauce until smooth. Pour this sauce over the cooked chicken mixture and stir to combine thoroughly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  • To assemble the wraps, take individual butter lettuce leaves and spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture into the center of each leaf. Drizzle with additional sauce if desired and top with garnishes such as chopped cilantro, sesame seeds, cashews, shredded carrots, and sliced scallions.
  • Serve the wraps immediately, allowing everyone to fold the lettuce around the filling and enjoy! The ground chicken lettuce wraps are a beloved dish that many families enjoy.
  • Extra Tips:
  • When preparing chicken lettuce wraps, feel free to adjust the sauce ingredients to suit your personal taste preferences. For a spicier kick, add more chili garlic sauce, or for sweetness, increase the amount of hoisin sauce.
  • Additionally, consider experimenting with different proteins, such as ground turkey or tofu, for a variation on this recipe. Make sure to drain any excess grease from the chicken mixture to keep the wraps from becoming soggy, and serve the wraps fresh to maintain the crispness of the lettuce.
